Not every mole needs removing, so we begin with a proper mole assessment. If you’ve noticed a changing mole, one that catches on clothing or an unwanted mole you’d like checked, our clinicians can assess it and explain your options.
Your appointment includes a clinical examination, with dermoscopy used where appropriate to examine the mole more closely. We’ll then explain whether mole removal is suitable or if monitoring or further investigation is recommended.
We provide private mole checks and suitable mole removal in Watford, including Bushey, Rickmansworth, Croxley Green, Garston, Abbots Langley and surrounding areas. Mole checks start from £150, with suitable removal from £295.
Every mole is assessed before removal by GMC-registered clinicians, with dermoscopy used where appropriate.
Moles that catch on clothing, are awkward to monitor or affect your confidence can be assessed for suitable removal options.
Having a mole removed starts with understanding what you’re dealing with. We assess the mole first, then explain whether removal is appropriate and which approach is most suitable.
Your clinician will examine the mole and may use dermoscopy to get a closer look at its features before discussing treatment.
If removal is suitable, your clinician will explain whether shave removal or surgical excision is the more appropriate option for the mole and its location.
The treatment area is numbed with local anaesthetic before the mole is removed. You’ll receive clear aftercare advice to help you care for the area afterwards.
Assessment of new or changing moles to identify the right removal option.
Sometimes the right next step is not immediate removal. If a mole appears unusual or you’ve noticed a significant change, your clinician will explain what needs to happen before treatment.
Some moles may be better monitored rather than removed straight away. We’ll explain what changes to watch for and whether follow-up is recommended.
If more information is required, your clinician may recommend a skin biopsy so tissue can be examined further.
Where clinically appropriate, tissue removed during a procedure can be sent to a specialist laboratory for histological analysis.
If an assessment raises concern about melanoma, we’ll explain the findings and discuss the appropriate referral pathway for specialist care.
