PRF stands for Platelet‑Rich Fibrin, which is derived from your own blood. It contains a high concentration of platelets, growth factors, and fibrin. PRF is packed with growth factors and regenerative cells that work to support the body’s natural healing process, nourishing the scalp and encouraging healthier, thicker hair growth.

PRF differs from PRP (Platelet‑Rich Plasma) in its preparation and composition. Unlike PRP, PRF does not use anticoagulants and forms a natural fibrin matrix. This matrix allows a slower and more sustained release of growth factors, which may improve follicle stimulation over time. Many clinicians consider PRF to be a more advanced form of platelet therapy.

No, PRF is non-surgical and minimally invasive. It involves injections using a fine needle under local anaesthetic if needed. There are no incisions, and patients can return to their normal activities immediately after treatment. This makes it a low-risk option compared with hair transplant surgery.

Most patients require a series of 3–6 sessions, spaced 4–6 weeks apart. The exact number depends on the degree of hair thinning and individual response. Periodic maintenance treatments may also be recommended to sustain results over time.

PRF may help both men and women experiencing thinning hair, pattern hair loss, or mild shedding. It is particularly effective in early to moderate hair loss when hair follicles are still active. A consultation with a qualified clinician is important to determine if PRF is suitable for your specific type of hair loss.

How Is PRF Hair Treatment Performed?

At Aventus Clinic, our PRF treatment for hair loss is carefully personalised to address each patient’s unique needs and goals. This advanced procedure is typically carried out over a series of sessions, spaced 4-6 weeks apart, to ensure optimal results and support steady hair regrowth.

For maximum comfort, a local anaesthetic is applied to the scalp before treatment begins. Our skilled surgeon then strategically injects PRF into areas affected by thinning, using precision to stimulate growth and revitalise weakened hair follicles.

PROCESS

The PRF Hair Treatment Process

Consultation & Planning

During your consultation, you’ll meet with Dr Alam or one of our hair specialists. Together, we’ll discuss your hair concerns, examine your scalp, and develop a personalised PRF treatment plan aimed at strengthening thinning areas and supporting natural hair regeneration.

The Procedure

A small blood sample is taken and carefully processed to extract Platelet‑Rich Fibrin (PRF). Using fine injections and, if needed, local anaesthetic, the PRF is applied to targeted areas of the scalp to nourish hair follicles and stimulate growth.

Recovery & Growth

Most patients can resume normal activities immediately after treatment. Mild redness or tenderness may occur but typically resolves quickly. Hair growth is gradual, with noticeable improvements in thickness and quality usually appearing between three and six months.

RECOVERY

Your PRF Hair Treatment Timeline

Here’s what to expect in the weeks and months following a PRF hair treatment:

1 Day – After Treatment

After your first PRF session, visible changes are not expected. PRF works gradually on a cellular level, supporting hair follicle health and scalp regeneration. It’s normal if hair thinning continues briefly, as the treatment’s effects build over time.

1 Day – After Treatment

5 Weeks – Second Session

Around five weeks after the initial treatment, you’ll have your second session. At this stage, changes may still be subtle, but the growth factors in PRF are actively nourishing the scalp and stimulating dormant follicles, helping to create the right environment for new hair growth.

5 Weeks – Second Session

10 Weeks - Third Session

By the tenth week, the third PRF treatment is performed. Some patients may notice slight improvements in hair texture or thickness. This session reinforces the previous treatments, further supporting healthy follicles and scalp condition.

10 Weeks - Third Session

3 Months

At three months, early signs of hair growth may start to appear, with fine hairs emerging in thinning areas. Hair may begin to feel fuller and healthier as PRF continues to enhance follicle activity and scalp regeneration.

3 Months

6 Months

Six months after your first session, results become more noticeable. New hair growth is generally visible in previously thinning areas, and overall hair quality should improve. Effects can last up to two years, with maintenance sessions recommended to sustain the benefits.

6 Months

7-9 Months

Seven to nine months post-treatment is an ideal time to review long-term progress with our team. We recommend a follow-up consultation to assess your results and determine whether additional maintenance sessions could help optimise hair health and sustain growth.

FAQ'S

Frequently Asked Questions

Generally, PRF requires three treatment sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart, with maintenance appointments recommended every 6 months to support sustained growth. PRF is typically considered a cosmetic procedure and is not usually covered by insurance, though it’s always worth verifying this with your provider. At Aventus Clinic, the price for PRF hair treatments starts at £350 per session, offering our clients exceptional value while maintaining the highest standards of quality and care.

Hair growth is a gradual process, and initial improvements may appear within 6–8 weeks. More noticeable results are generally seen after 2–4 months, with continued improvement over time. The rate of progress can vary depending on age, hair condition, and overall health.

A typical PRF session lasts about 30–40 minutes, including blood collection, preparation of the PRF, and scalp injections. The procedure is relatively quick and performed in a clinical setting with minimal discomfort. It is convenient for patients looking for a low-downtime treatment.

Local anaesthetic or numbing cream is usually applied to the scalp, so most patients experience minimal discomfort during injections. Some may feel mild pressure or a slight stinging sensation, which typically subsides quickly. Any soreness after treatment is usually minor and temporary.

PRF has very minimal downtime, and most patients can return to normal activities immediately. Mild redness, swelling, or small bruises may occur at injection sites, but these usually resolve within a few days. There are no restrictions on washing or styling hair after treatment.

Yes. PRF provides growth factors that help strengthen hair follicles and improve the overall quality of existing hair. Over multiple sessions, hair may appear thicker, fuller, and healthier. It is particularly effective in areas with thinning rather than complete baldness.

PRF can be used for most hair types and for adults of different ages. However, individual suitability should be assessed by a trained clinician, as results vary based on hair density, scalp condition, and type of hair loss. It is not typically recommended for completely bald areas where follicles are inactive.

Yes, PRF can be safely combined with other hair restoration therapies such as mesotherapy, low-level laser therapy, or topical treatments. Combining treatments may enhance results and promote healthier hair growth. Your clinician will advise on the best approach for your individual needs.

PRF is most effective in early to moderate hair thinning when hair follicles are still active. For advanced baldness or large areas with no follicle activity, surgical options like hair transplant may be more suitable. PRF can sometimes be used alongside surgery to improve overall scalp health.
