Same Day Private Acne Treatment

Specialist, doctor-led acne treatment clinic

Advanced Acne Treatment for Mild to Severe Breakouts

Acne can present as blackheads, whiteheads, inflamed spots or deeper cystic lesions, and in some cases may lead to scarring or pigmentation changes. At Aventus Clinic, your skin is assessed to determine the type and severity of acne before recommending appropriate in-clinic treatment options tailored to your concerns.

Treatment may include AviClear laser therapy, a targeted laser treatment designed to reduce excess oil production and address the underlying causes of acne. Depending on severity, prescription options may include topical retinoids, benzoyl peroxide, oral antibiotics, hormonal therapy where appropriate, or oral isotretinoin (Roaccutane). Roaccutane contains isotretinoin and works by significantly reducing oil production and preventing blocked pores. It is prescribed at our clinic under specialist supervision with appropriate monitoring.

All acne treatments are delivered in a regulated UK clinical setting by GMC-registered doctors, with structured follow-up to monitor progress and support safe, gradual improvement in skin clarity and overall skin health.

What to Expect From Your Acne Treatment Appointment

Here is what to expect at your private acne treatment appointment, from initial assessment through to aftercare.

Free Online Assessment

You can begin by submitting clear photographs of the affected areas along with brief details about your skin history and previous treatments. A clinician will review this information to understand the severity of your acne, whether there are signs of inflammation or early scarring, and advise whether an in-clinic consultation is recommended.

Consultation and Skin Analysis

During your appointment, your doctor will examine your skin under clinical lighting and discuss your concerns in detail. The assessment looks at the type of acne present, including blocked pores, inflamed spots or deeper cystic lesions, as well as any pigmentation changes or textural differences. Based on this evaluation, a personalised treatment plan will be explained clearly.

Treatment and Ongoing Care

Depending on your skin’s needs, treatment may include laser therapy to help reduce active acne or procedures such as PRP, medical skin peels or HydraFacial to improve scarring and uneven texture. You will receive tailored aftercare advice and, where appropriate, follow-up appointments to monitor progress and support gradual, medically supervised improvement in skin clarity and overall skin health.

Treatment depends on how severe your acne is. Topical treatments such as retinoids, benzoyl peroxide or azelaic acid help clear blocked pores. Oral antibiotics may be used for more inflamed acne, while hormonal therapies (such as the combined pill) can help some women. For severe acne, isotretinoin (Roaccutane) is an option but requires specialist supervision.

Your doctor will review your medical history, examine your skin and discuss factors that affect your acne. This assessment helps determine the best treatment, whether that’s topical therapy, oral medication or specialist procedures. At Aventus Clinic, a personalised plan is then explained and agreed.

Acne treatments take time. Most topical or oral therapies take at least 6–8 weeks before improvement is noticeable, and full benefits may take several months. Consistency with the prescribed regimen and follow-up helps achieve the best outcome.

Controlling breakouts early can help reduce the risk of permanent scarring. Some medical procedures such as laser therapy, chemical peels or HydraFacial can also improve texture and marks from previous acne, but no treatment can guarantee total scar elimination.

Yes. Acne can recur if the factors that contribute to breakouts (like oil production and hormones) persist. Long-term or maintenance treatment and regular follow-up with a clinician can help manage flares and maintain clearer skin.

acne Types

We Can Help With Any Type Of Acne

Our doctors assess and manage the full range of acne presentations, from mild blocked pores to deeper inflammatory and cystic acne. Treatment is tailored to the type and severity of acne, with the aim of reducing active breakouts, preventing scarring and improving overall skin health.

Comedonal Acne

This form of acne involves blackheads and whiteheads caused by blocked pores. It often affects the forehead, nose and chin but can appear anywhere on the face or body. Although usually non-inflamed, it can persist without appropriate treatment.

Inflammatory Acne

Inflammatory acne presents as red, swollen spots that may feel tender. These lesions develop when blocked pores become irritated and bacteria contribute to inflammation. Without management, this type can increase the risk of pigmentation changes or early scarring.

Nodular Acne

Nodular acne consists of larger, firm lumps beneath the skin surface. These lesions are typically painful and may take longer to resolve. Medical assessment is important, as this type carries a higher risk of permanent scarring.

Cystic Acne

Cystic acne is a more severe form characterised by deep, pus-filled lesions that can be painful and inflamed. It often requires specialist treatment and careful monitoring to reduce long-term skin damage.

Hormonal Acne

Hormonal acne is commonly linked to fluctuations in hormone levels and often appears along the jawline, chin and lower face. Breakouts may worsen around menstrual cycles or during periods of hormonal change.

Even after active acne settles, some patients are left with textural changes or darker marks on the skin. We assess and treat acne scarring and pigmentation concerns with tailored procedural options designed to support collagen production and improve skin texture.

Treatments

Acne Treatments We Offer

Since acne presents in different forms and severities, careful assessment is essential before recommending treatment. During your consultation, Dr Sharon Crichlow will examine your skin, discuss your medical history and treatment goals, and develop a personalised plan based on the type and severity of acne present.

AviClear Laser

AviClear is the most significant breakthrough for acne in recent times, it is FDA approved and proven to treat acne at its source. Offering long term results and relief from acne. Unlike other traditonal acne treatments it is effective for all skin types, it is non chemical and is suitable for both mild to severe acne.

Medical Skin Peels

Customised treatments by professionals ensure safety and efficacy, providing clearer, smoother skin and boosting confidence.

Medication for Acne

Depending on severity, treatment may include topical retinoids to prevent blocked pores, benzoyl peroxide to reduce bacteria and inflammation, oral antibiotics for inflammatory acne, or hormonal therapy where appropriate. For severe or persistent cases, oral isotretinoin may be prescribed under specialist supervision.

FAQ'S

Frequently Asked Questions

The most appropriate treatment is determined after a clinical assessment of your skin type, acne severity, medical history and previous treatments.

Private acne treatment typically does not require a GP referral, although your clinician will review your medical background before proceeding.

This depends on the treatment chosen and the severity of your acne. Laser and scar treatments are often performed as a course of sessions.

Most treatments are well tolerated. Laser or resurfacing procedures may cause temporary warmth or mild discomfort during treatment.

Many acne treatments involve minimal downtime. Some redness or sensitivity may occur, particularly after laser or peel treatments.

This depends on the procedure performed. After some treatments, makeup should be avoided for a short period while the skin settles.

Avoid starting new active skincare products immediately before your consultation and bring details of previous treatments or medications you have used.
